Campaign season for the new executive board of the Student Government Association is underway
The candidates will have two weeks to campaign to make themselves and their platforms known.
Debates will be held the week of the March 24, and online voting will take place that Friday on the March 28.
With elections coming up, Lincoln students have offered opinions on what they would like to see for the next board.
“I just want people that really care about this school,” said junior Aurelia Johnson.
“They’re going to be the student body’s voice so it’s important that they all are able to envision how to make this school better for the students and be able to execute it.”
Madison Bailey, another junior commented, “it’s good we have this democratic way of deciding who to elect for SGA because that way we will see who is going to give us their all.”
Students though, were surprised when they received an email on March 4th that said that the elections committee had voted to extend the deadline of applications for those who wished to run for Treasurer or Vice President of Internal Affairs.
These students were given 48 hours to complete the application and hand it into the SGA office, giving them until 5:00pm Thursday, March 6, to hand in their applications in a sealed envelope.
