On March 10th, the first parent association meeting took place on family and friends day in the Mary Dod Brown Memorial Chapel following Sunday morning service.

More than 50 parents gathered together to discuss goals for the fall and spring semester to help their children at Lincoln University.

Terri Robinson, mother of Nina Robinson class of 2014 attended the meeting to find out more about the association and what their plans were.

“I’m happy to be here, organizing this group was a good idea,” she said.

With the motto “Lincoln love catch it and give it back,” the major goal of the association is to establish better communication between all parents, becoming guides for students to lead them to available resources on campus such as: jobs, health services, volunteer services and web-based services.

Darlene Mungin, the president of the organization, came up with the idea of establishing the association freshman year of her daughter Jabria Nasir’s college career. “As parents we need to help the university more,” Mungin said.

She spoke about the association, fundraising, and providing scholarships for students. Mungin is also making efforts to plan events for students and support the university events more frequently.

The association meeting adjourned with the announcement of their first fundraiser a spring final exam care package, which must be purchased by April 13, and will be delivered during finals week to students.
