Lincoln University men’s basketball player Will Cole continues to shine early in this young season.
Cole, a sophomore transfer from Glendale Community College in Glendale, AZ, has already this season been named Rookie of the week (Week three) and newcomer of the week (Week one) for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association [CIAA].
“He has been very consistent for us, said Head Coach John Hill. We needed someone to fill that post role for us and he is doing it. That was a main element we were missing last year. We had the guard play but we had nobody down in the paint to control it for us. So far he has been getting us double-digits in points and rebounds. You can pair our hot start with his performance.”
In his most recent performance at the Fresh Coast Classic during week three, in the opening round loss to #14 Saint Leo, he had 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. In the consolation game against Northern Michigan he had 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
In week one, Cole helped lead the Lions to an upset over Division I Howard University with a career-high 22 points and game-high 13 rebounds. In that game, he went 6-of-10 from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe.
This was the Lions first season opening victory since the 2002-03 season when they defeated Lancaster Bible College 78 – 62.
Currently, he is ranked third in rebounding (9.2), fourth in field goal percentage (70.4) and 16th in scoring (13.0) among the conference.
