On Nov. 4, 2012, Lincoln students along with members of Iota Phi Theta fraternity celebrated the short, but well-lived life of Anthony “A. Wash” Washington, the 2011 Mr.Legacy, and brother of the Iota Phi Theta, Inc.
On November 4th 2011, two members of the Iota Fraternity along with a friend were driving along Ashmun Road and ended up in a collision that totaled their vehicle. The other two passengers were in serious, but stable condition.
“It was a nice event,” said Chris Wilson, a Lincoln University Junior. “It shows that his legacy is still relevant.”
The memorial was held on Ashmun road where the accident took place. Students shared memories and held a candlelight vigil in remembrance.
“I’m very happy that Lincoln can always come together as a family and support one another,” said senior Bryan Brown.
Many students felt that the accident could have possibly been prevented if street lights were placed on the dark road.
“Street lights would be very effective to help ensure student safety and prevent a tragedy like this in the future,” said junior, Willie Eatmon.
