The event was aimed at raising awareness for health issues, promoting nutrition, exercise and developing healthy lifestyles for Lincoln’s community.
The event included local and on-campus organizations that had an emphasis on health and wellness. Community organizations like the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association visited the campus to take part in health and wellness day.
Attendees of the event took part in activities such as: line-dancing, face painting, free health screenings and giveaways. Many were also given the opportunity to receive chair massages.
“I think it’s good that Lincoln opened up the wellness center and are having events to
promote health” said Shaneika Patterson.
In addition to the event, there was also a blood drive hosted by American Red Cross and free mammograms sponsored by Fox Chase, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Manuel Rivero Gym.
“Events like this make me proud to be part of the Lincoln Community, health is such a big part of life and to show students you do care and support them is just great” said Patterson.
The university’s Counseling Services and Minority Men’s Health Center were among some on-campus departments that participated in the event.
The first Health and Wellness Day was a huge success. Staff and Faculty hope to make this an annual event at the University.
