For the first time in years, the very first announcement of Lincoln’s players of the week are awarded to two freshmen. Doug Cook and Tara O’Brien were named Lincoln Sports athletes of the week for their heroics this past Labor Day Weekend.
Tara O’Brien is a freshman from Twickenham, U.K. The middle fielder scored the teams only two goals last weekend against Concordia. She made an immediate impact on the field, as she scored one of them in the first half. “She’s really good. She’s a great addition to the team,” said Stephanie Anderson, the captain of the team.
Doug Cook, freshman from Miami, Fla., completed 30 out of 47 passes, for an amazing 317 yards and two touchdowns. In his first collegiate game, the freshman looked as if he has been here before. His poise in the pocket mixed with his great athletic ability helped him lead a strong offensive effort against the Cheyney Wolves. “Doug played really well, especially for this being his first game. He is definitely going to be a great player for us this year and years to come,” said Phil Jean-Juste, a senior wide receiver on the team.
