On Sunday, the Lincoln University women’s track and field finished sixth in CIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. They posted a score of 25 points.
Junior Shana Brown led the way for the Lady Lions, as she finished sixth in the 3,000 Meter Run posting a time of 11:34.80. She also finished eighth in the Mile Run posting a time of 5:42.46.
Senior Diane Lindsey finished fifth in the Triple Jump competition by jumping a distance of 11.12 meters.
The men’s track and field team finished also finished sixth in their Championships. They recorded a total of 14 points.
Junior Matthew Huckabee paced the Lions as he finished first in the Shot Put competition, and set a school record by throwing for 16.66 meters. This performance earned him All-CIAA honors, the first Lincoln track and field athlete to ever achieve this.
Keith Trammell finished eighth in the competition throwing for 13.94 meters.
Both the Lincoln women and men’s track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday February 16th at the 106th Millrose Games in New York City.
